well
good but not excellence.
course management is poor.
The best course
It was the best course i have been before. Beautiful scenery.
Not worth the cost
Let me start by saying the location and scenery is immaculate. Ridiculous coastal views on almost every hole. Pace of play is also very solid and I've never had an issue here. The staff are all very nice and accommodating as well.
Unfortunately, the course itself is nothing special. Fairways are tiny and many are sloping towards the ocean. A miss is in the ivy with no chance of finding your ball. It almost seems like the course is challenging just for the sake of it. Good shots get punished just as easily as bad and there really is no rhyme or reason for many of the holes other than the goal of labeling the course as "difficult."
I felt compelled to write this review because Trump used to be a course that was worth the poor design and layout because of the scenery, pace of play, and course quality/maintenance. Now, they're attempting to charge Pebble Beach level prices, and it's just not remotely close to being worth the new fees. You're betting off driving to Newport and playing Pelican Hill. Views are almost as good and both courses are maintained just as well, but the difference is those courses are actually playable.
Tough
With no course knowledge this course is tough. Lots of blind shots and target golf.
Great course
Loved the course, left politics out of the equation, great course, good value, tons of fun to play and beautiful scenery. Course staff very friendly and helpful.
Incredible course
Fabulous course on many levels, from the outstanding clubhouse to the amazing views on every one of the 18 holes. No hole is the same, lots of challenges, high quality course to play. I'm not sure if it's worth $800-1000 to play, as you may see, so look for a better deal.
Golf and views
Views of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island from almost all the holes. Course is difficult but fair. Greens are fast about an 11. Fun course to play reguardless of political views. Make sure you check the deals
45 min behind the pace
Was horrible experiende on Tuesday .
45 min - 1 hour behind the pace !
Why was this? Overbooked ? Poor execution of player management ?
At the end we were all exhausted because of wait .
Nice view
Very accommodating starter named, Ron. It has a nice view throughout 18 holes. However, the outdoor restroom needs to be clean because there are many used toilet papers on the floor and the toilet needs scrubbing.
Some greens are slower than others, and many unrepaired* divots. Needs to send staff to fix those above issues for it to be a 5 stars. Outdoor toilet issues and many divots issues...
Don't change a thing
My top 3 favorite course. Staff is always helpful and friendly. Manny is the man, I appreciate his candor and friendliness. Fairways and greens are terrific condition. We'll be back soon.
Awesome Deal for "Heroes" (First Responders and Military)
First time playing here and enjoyed the experience. I was paired with a member and guest and it was awesome to play with them, because they had the local knowledge.
Course was not all that challenging. The challenge was putting on greens that had just been punched and they were still in recovery mode. They were quick and will be great in about another week or so.
Awesome benefit for "hero" discount 50% off!!!! -- That was not expected but very welcomed. You get a very small bag of range balls, but it was enough to warm up.
The starter was awesome and very friendly. All staff were nothing but professional. The only other downside was playing behind 6 dudes that wanted to play a six-some and were smoking a crazy amount of weed. Had to get the Marshall out a few times to break them up... but once that was done, pace was relatively OK, still slow, but manageable.
I would definitely play here again if I am back in the LA area.
Gorgeous layout, greens a little off
Played amid the SoCal super bloom this Spring and it was absolutely gorgeous. Wildflowers all around and whales breaching offshore. Course layout is great.
The greens had been recently aerated and sanded but, even allowing for that, I was surprised at their sub-par condition. Also, the tee boxes and fairways were not fully up to standard for a high-fee facility. Maybe they are still recovering from the unaccustomed recent rainy period in SoCal, but I have seen much better recently at public access courses in the area..
I had a “Hot Deal” credit from Golf Now, so I’d have to say the value was good - even though I should have saved it until I am playing at mid-season form!
