Scotland Run Golf Club
About
Scotland Run Golf Club is conveniently located less than a half hour from downtown Philadelphia and only 45 minutes from Atlantic City. It has been voted the top golf course in the Philadelphia Region and it's also ranked in Golf World's Top 50 Public Courses in the country. The layout is routed through and around an old sand quarry, providing a unique mix of wooded, quarry, and links-style holes. The distinctive landscape has unique features including expansive waste areas and imposing cliffs that were deftly incorporated into the design. The golf course is wide open, which means it's at the mercy of the prevailing winds. Scotland Run Golf Club is a tough but fair test where you'll face forced carries, water hazards, and strategically placed bunkers. On mornings where the fog rolls off of the hills, for a split second you might think you're at St. Andrews.

par 4 16th. Carry the gorge. Photo submitted by u00000869398 on 06/07/2013
A really great course!
I love this place. The only reason I gave the conditions a 4 was because of the bad spring weather and the greens still had not recovered from aeration.
One of...
...NJ's best public course. If you haven't, you should. We were the only foursome on the course and it still took 4.5 hrs, Its just a BIG course. Plenty of exciting holes with great green complexes. My favorite hole of many was the the 16th, short par 4, with a forced carry over the sand quarry.
First Time
First time playing this course. The course was in great condition, great layout, very challenging. Pace of play could have been better. It took two of us almost four hours to play. Other than that can't wait to play it again
Perfect day
We found a great deal on Golfnow for this premium course. We didn't tee off until 2:00 PM but easily got the round in. The pace of play was fast. The course is in great condition. Greens were perfect and rolled true. Perfect day!
A nice track - worth playing! Challenging!
A great layout. There are bunkers throughout the course. Some sand, some waste - all well placed. The course is designed to force the player to think about the best place to play to. The SMART longer hitters will not always choose driver from the tee.
The greens were in pretty good shape. It was somewhat obvious that they were recently aerated, but they were almost back to perfect. Maybe if they had rolled them they would have been perfect.
The course had large putting green and short-game practice green. The range did not have tees, which indicated to us that they did not want you hitting driver. A bit shocking for a course of this quality. The range itself was a waste area with a few "green areas" as targets.
Great layout okay conditions
For the prices they charge I was expecting a lot better conditions in the fairways and on the greens. There were many dead spots throughout the course. The layout is still great they just need to take some of those greens fees and reinvest into some pristine conditions.
Great Course offering interesting and some very challenging holes.
Most par 5's were very challenging for me, a 16 handicap. I played green tees 5,554 yards. I walked in the park on the front
However the back side more challenging with waste areas through the green and wood pilings in bunkers are integral parts of the course with no relief. So many character building holes with small canyons and wild grasses in front of you on your drives!!! Great course!!! Want to go back!!!
Shore Course not at the Shore
Course was enjoyable for the hot deal value. Back 9 is better than the front, but it's very penal and not kept dry enough for the design. Lots of odd holes and crazy greens. It's okay, but not as good as Ballamor. Going back would depend on the deal.
The course was in great shape, the layout was a fun play, it was like playing two different courses first nine narrow, second more wide open. I thought it was great! I need to get back!
Interesting layout, great shape
Greens were in very good shape, ran true, moderate speeds. The bunkers were flawless. Fairways were above average with very few soggy spots. The rough was challenging to get out of, it really grabs your club here. The tee boxes had been beaten up a bit. I really like the layout at Scotland Run. It's a good deal for $60. There are more affordable options in the area if you can't get a deal.
Great golf
This place has it all. The staff was excellent. The course was awesome. Used every club in the bag from the blues. Can't wait to get back!!!
must play
Although one of the higher green fees around, you should play this course at least once. You will see why. It has a mix of everything. dog legs, wide fairways, and not-so-wide fairways, make for a fun experience. The greens roll true, and some of the hole locations (at least on this day) make for interesting approach shots. It's just a really, really nice course, one that I think you will enjoy, regardless of your ability.
Above average conditions with an average layout
Granted, when we played yesterday the greens were aerated. I can't fault them for that, its spring and thats a normal process for courses. Scotland Run is a great course when you can snag it at a discounted rate in the $40 range. I wouldn't play here at full price. The course conditions are very nice. There are some large areas of sand/dirt between a few holes that are part of some course construction, but overall the fairways, greens and bunkers are 5 star quality.
Despite this being in exceptional condition, I find the course layout kind of boring. There are some par 5s with scoring opportunities, short par 3s and several of the par 4s are drivable or nearly from the tee if you can hit the driver over 250. Overall, a nice course with a nice practice range. Would play here again, just never for full price
70 in February
Snuck in a quick 9 at 3:30... Last group off. My son and I.... Absolutely glorious afternoon. Course has a considerable amount of burnout in areas around the greens... Just not enough rain in SJ this Winter. With 200 rounds played Sunday and more warm weather permitting play in the coming weeks.... Superintendent has his work cut out for him getting this course plush again... but I know they willl...
True this is a very solid course with interesting holes and is usually in good to average condition. However, the course is soooo over priced as many courses of moderate quality design and conditions are.
Not a good value at all...
