Pleasant Valley Golf Club
About
Pleasant Valley Golf Club sits just south of Dulles airport, but the expansive layout, which is absent of homes, feels much more secluded. The parkland layout tumbles across a diverse landscape of rolling hills and grassy meadows covered with hardwood forests. There is plenty of diversity throughout the golf course with some holes that are bunker-less contrasting with the links holes that have Scottish-style bunkers. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 fifth. After an uphill tee shot with a bunker on the right and a waste area on the left the second shot presents multiple choices. To the left you could take a risk with trees and a bunker but you could possibly be rewarded with a better angle for the third shot while the right side option will require a third shot over a large bunker to reach the green.

Good Shape
Course is lush. Greens are soft but roil nice. Fairways are good. Good value
Overpriced for condition of the course
Course is in awful shape.. Greens, tee boxes, and fairways had weeds everywhere. Fairways had bald spots and ruts. Course was in great condition in the spring but it looks like they have just give.n up. Sad state of affairs
Hardest thing: Finding ground not torn up by divots and ball marks!
In recent past, this course was one of my favorites because of the excellent conditions for a public course. That has drastically changed in a negative way. If the putting green can be so immaculate, then so can the greens on the course. Tee boxes (photo provided) looked like a Military Ordnance range, with much ground under repair or unplayable due to water/mud that wasn't marked in any way. Very slow pace of play on the front nine, with no Marshall riding around to address the issue. Ball marks, crab grass, and patches of dead grass/bare patches all over many greens. Based on all of these factors, at least a small basket of range balls should be complimentary, or reduce the price to around $65 to ride 18 holes.
Poor conditions
Tee boxes, fairways, rough, and greens were in terrible condition. It seemed like the course is just not taken care of. I luckily had a discount but I would never play here at the normal fees they are charging for at the most an avg clubhouse and terrible course conditions.
Rough shape
This course is in really rough shape. Fairways are beat up, some greens are unplayable, tee boxes have seen much better days. Not worth the money currently. The staff was friendly though.
Great layout
I really love the lay out of this course. Great challenge for all skill levels. Tee boxes weren’t in great condition, lots of dead patches in the fairway, and the greens were okay. Some greens were okay, others were in pretty bad shape and it had nothing to do with them being punched a couple weeks ago. For the price of this course, i do expect more.
Poor value for what you get
I played this course on a Saturday and the course was in worse shape than municipal courses I have played. Some holes entire areas of fairway are under repair and in some instances it seemed as if about 1/3 if the green was under repair as well. If the course was charging about 1/3 the price it might be considered an ok value, but this is not maintained like a course charging $90 green fee.
What happened to this course?!?!?
This used to be one of my favorite local courses but something has gone terribly wrong. The course was essentially a swamp with LARGE time tracks through almost every fairway. The first green looked like someone had tried to make a putting area in their backyard. The second green was marginally better but overall the greens are in terrible shape. The pace of play was also terrible and when we called in for a marshal, nothing happened. The group in front was almost three holes behind. Made for a long day on a course in bad shape. The good news is that the lady that works in the grill area is adorable and very very nice. I would have appreciated if when we checked in that they told us that the course had some "rough spots". I hope that they get this fixed. I took a group from out of town and I may never live this one down. I felt like I owed my friends a refund!
Too much water on fairways
They overwater which results in the need for lift clean and place. The only time you should have to play that wet of a course should be after a significant rain event which we have had no rain over the last several days. Overpriced for the conditions and facility compared to other courses in the area.
Soggy fairways
The fairways were very muddy and wet. Some parts of the fairways had no grass just mud only. Very disappointed in the condition of the golf course.
You posted two reviews within a week of each other for the one course you did like and based on your other posted reviews you should probably take up a different sport. Golf Now should really take a look at who is posting a review before making it go live.
