Overall positive experience
I was a single player that paired up with a group of 3. Pace was pretty good, except for a few times where there were two groups waiting for the tee box. Staff was extremely friendly and informative. Only real negative was that it didn't appear that they tried to clear the leaves at all. Many traps were completely full of leaves and most of the course rough was covered. Our group of 4 lost several balls due to the leaves that should have been in play. A couple were lost on shots that rolled just beyond the green.
One of our most played courses!
We frequently drive 45 minutes to play at this course. We can always get a good deal and tee times and enjoy the challenging course.
Would recommend
Cons: no beverage cart, I didn't see any food to purchase for lunch, not very good directions to find all the tees between houses, and a couple members that I said hi to just blatantly ignored me.
All other are pros. I throughly enjoyed my times and will visit again.
TOO MUCH TRASH ON SOME GREENS
Way too much trash on some greens.! Could not PUTTED. A few measly dollars and a blower just couple of times a day.... is not too much to ask. ALL CUSTOMERS SHOULD BE VALUABLE...
The tree line and leaves in certain places is understandable.... But covering greens... No way.
Virginia Oaks Ugh
Poor conditions. Slow play. Waste of money even at $39.00.
Great price for fair greens
Can't beat the price for a decent challenging course. Greens could use some better maintaince.
Great layout.
Great layout. Cart path needs work, as do the tee boxes, fairways. Greens were good. This could be on of the top courses in the area but needs attention, badly.
Not worth the money
Tee boxes in poor condition. Fairways dry and had poor grass condition.
VA Oaks....good value
I played VA Oaks yesterday for 23.00 (18 and a cart) and the course is in okay shape. The greens and fairways were fine.....the rough is still what I call "clump golf" your ball rolls around until it fines a dirt patch to land on.
I would say it was a beautiful day and for the money....it was a really good deal. I'm very happy using Golfnow.
A good day
I have played here before and normally the course wasn't in the best shape. But yesterday ( 9/15). It was great the greens and fairways were the best I've seen in awhile. It's good to see because it's such a good course layout challenging for any golfer. Overall I had a good experience.
Poor tee box conditions mar a great course..
It was a gorgeous Fall day and the course was not crowded (due to football on TV!) .Course layout and design is great and very challenging but the tee boxes and spots here and there on the fairway fringes were in poor shape.. Too bad - took away from a potentially perfect golf day.. Not sure if I will return or not - given so many other nearby choices.. Green were in good shape - mostly...
Tight front nine and not well maintain
Front 9 is tight and not well maintained. Back 9 is more open and better condition. Played behind a foursome and had to wait every hole. No marshall to be seen.
Sale lady did not know about free lunch deal and we had to call golfnow.com to confirm. Course manager then told us the deal expired the day before but honor the deal. Not a good experience.
Great layout
A fun test for golfers of any skill level. A local gem!
Tried and true
Forest Green never disappoints. Rolling hills, level tee boxes, interesting hole placements. Great staff!
Great value and played at out own pace
Played midday on a Friday and had no one in front of us as the course was wide open. Have been disappointed in the conditions of the greens the last couple of times in prior years, but the greens were in good shape, albeit a little slow, probably an 8. Course staff were VERY friendly and helpful and even pointed out a discount I had missed when purchasing some merchandise. We got our rounds with cart for about half the going rate for the area, so the value was excellent. The course is challenging and has some quirky holes with some blind shots or where you need to place you drives carefully, so if you are playing for the first time, make sure and ask the staff for some advice.
great layout; not best shape.
Very challenging layout with tough greens. Fairways had many brown patches and greens were bit marked up. Still fun to play and made u think.
Great neighborhood golf course
Excellent golf course with beautiful lake views. Challenging island green makes the round more interesting.
Just Needs a little TLC
I like this course, but I wish they had the money to make it better. The course needs help around the tree boxes and fairways. Greens are ok, but need some help in certain areas. The areas surrounding the woods really needs to be cleaned up. I know they're woods, but they seem like they're a dumping ground. You are penalized to severely if you have an arrant shot. No chance for recovery or redemption. The people who work at the course are great and the clubhouse is nice. The community that the course is in is nice as well. Pace of play was ok, but they could've partnered up some groups to make it better. I like the layout and it can be rewarding, but it needs help.
Crab grass
Used to be an okay golf course now it seems like there is no maintenance. no one fixes their ball marks or fills up their divots. And too many dogs running loose. Good value at 21$ but would pay a little extra to get a better pace of play and experience somewhere else .
