Cynthia Boal Janssens - Contributor

Cynthia Boal Janssens is a former newspaper writer and editor turned freelance writer. She is the former travel editor and Sunday magazine editor of The Detroit News. In addition, she has worked for newspapers in California, Georgia, New York and Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Ohio University.

She has been active for many years in the Society of American Travel Writers and was national president of the 1,200-member professional organization in 1998. Janssens began combining golf with her travel writing about five years ago, when she and her husband relocated to Northwest Michigan, one of America’s finest golfing areas. She couldn't resist the lure of the links and began playing regularly...then decided to combine her golfing with her writing. In 2002, she wrote the midwest section of "Fairways: America's Greatest Golf Resorts".

She and her husband Chet now spend their winters in southwest Florida, living in a golf community near Naples. In addition to writing about golf in Michigan and Florida, Janssens travels extensively and reports on resorts and courses all over the world. Recently, she has written about courses in Canada, Wales, Hawaii and North Carolina. She also specializes in writing about golf programs on cruise ships. As much as she enjoys writing about golf travel in general, she is particularly interested in women's golf issues and great golf experiences for couples. You may contact her www.cbjanssens.com.
