The course has great features under normal conditions.
Although the course is under renovation, it wasn't that bad. We played quiet well and in about 3 1/2 hours. It is a beautiful course in normal conditions.
tight course challenging target greens
course had temp greens the whole 18 holes so don't know how it really plays love the old tree and nature all around course
The course is in renovation
The greens where temporarily greens on the fairways, because they are renovating the greens and side bunkers.
Such a shame
My father & I are regulars to the Florida area & enjoy playing the many great courses Orlando has to offer. One course that we have always enjoyed playing & talked about when we go back hone is Diamonback. The Joe Lee design is a treat & in previous visits the course has keys been in pristine condition & I mean pristine. So you can imagine my our disbelief when we showed up to find a far from prestine golf course, in fact it wouldn't have passed for a poor conditioned municipal back in the UK ( no disrespect meant). As we drove in we could see the tees had not been cup, there was grass cuttings everywhere & the greens & surrounding aprons looked almost dead. None the less we drove in & up to the bag stop to find no one there, we parked up & got our clubs out. We made or way into the clubhouse to find it rater run down (the shop was never luxurious before but always well stocked & welcoming). We payed our fee & collected our range balls, put our bags on our carts & drove wn to the range. At this point it became apparent the range was not being maintained either & the grass looked very much over grown & damaged. There was also a green keeper going up & down the range, now my father & I wanted to hit 20 balls each before we went out (bare in mind there is no ne else on the range) but couldn't due to the same green keeper driving up & down in front of us at around 120 yards away. You would hae swore he was oing it on purpose as he was up the other end of the range when we arrived & soon drove off when my father & I packed up to leave, very strange!!
None the less we thought things can only get better & so we continued out to the first tee. At this point I noticed the cart had no GPS system & so though I would go ask for a yardage chart. Now those that hae played Diamondbak will know its a very tight & tricky course with no distances on the sprinkler heads etc. a yardage book or GPS is critical really for a visitor to enjoy there round. Anyway the pro informed me he had no books & to "just aim or the 150 pole. If you can't see past it don't hit past it". I mean I was astonished, is tht the best advice he could offer?? My father & I hit our tee shots down the first a fiddly dog leg left par 5, Only to drive down & find te fairways had not been cut & looked awful. We both played up to the green only to find the green looked almost dead! It was crusty & falling apart in bits. At this point we decided the round looked like a lost cause & drove back to the pro shop to ask fr a refund.
Such a shame a great track has been let go in this way. I have played all over the world & this was one of my all time favourites but I fear in the condition it's in next time we travel to florida it may not be around.
the worst shape it's ever been in
this course used to be wonderful, what happened? we used to play here 15 times a year. I won't go back until some major work is done. they say they airrated the greens, your kidding right. I was shocked at the overall conditions.
Best course in central Florida but need investment
This is the most interesting and challenging course I have played
The staff are all super friendly
Such a shame that it is now bank owned
It needs an investor who has a passion for golf
Please someone buy it so we get to play it in the future
Course Better than expected, greens need work
I first played this course 15 years ago. Back then this course was an amazing, chalenging, and high level course. Although different things have caused it to fatler a little, I did enjoy this course once again. The greens do need some work, but they are nowhere near as bad as some of the other courses on here. The layout is still challenging and for eight dollars, the value was amazing.
Great layout and very challenging course
DO NOT PLAY UNTIL THEY FIX THEIR GREENS, THEY ARE IN HORRIBLE CONDITION AND UNPLAYABLE AT PRESENT!!
Must play
I have wanted to play this course for many years after visiting from UK several times to orlando and I eventually made time to play and wasn't disappointed. Very nice staff and easy going. First hole is a great opener and nice and tight. The course was overall nice and tight and very enjoyable. The greens were a little patchy but rolled nicely, and this is just down to the time of year visited. You would do well not to miss this course. Recommended!
Tight course - good challenge
Very tight layout - bring lots of balls!
No starter - slow on first tee but did speed up and got in finished in just over 4 hours
Course in OK condition
Prices Fair
Greens in very poor condition
Greens were bare and bumpy. Fairways pretty good. Bunkers need a bit of attention
Miles away from civilization
...which is unusual for a golf course in Florida. Diamondback is a beautifully natural and scenic course.
you need greens to be called a golf coarse!
Too much conservation area on fairways, much to easy to loose balls even with good golf shots. Not one hole with what you could call a green, looked like the grass had been burned off with too much fertiliser and not enough water. Played here last year and thought we would give it another try as we may have picked a bad time, it's got worse. Will not be back, there are so many good coarses to choose from this one is a no no from now on.
I really like Diamond Back, BUT !!!!!!
The GREENS are not really playable. They have gone down hill fast and I don't think they are going to be able to save them for summer play. It to bad becuase Its one of my Favorite courses.
the greens are the worst i have ever played on whilst the fairways are in good condition. which makes no sense.re fine. which ma
Worst greens ever. Great fairways good surroundings but the state of the greens made it a waste of money.
A must play
Unfortunately the greens and tees were being worked on, which seems to be a common theme at this time of year, but the trade off is the cheaper green fees and a quieter course. This is a fantastic golf course, no houses just pure golf heaven. There are no 'airs and graces' to this golf club, no 5* luxuries for the jet set, but what they have is a gem of a golf course. I have played this course a good few times and play from the back tees 'tips' there is no better challenging holes to start a round than Diamondback, if you still have a scorecard going after 3 holes you are doing well. If you play this course, take the challenge and play the first 2 holes at least from the back, you may want to play used balls. I will be back on future holidays.
the course needs lots of work
Diamondback has a very good course layout and airways in good shape. the problem with the course is its tees and greens. Many tees looked like they just had sand dumped on them without any work being done. We found most greens to be unplayable and had to implement a two putt rule.
Read the first two reviews and decided not to play.... such a shame indeed.
