David Leadbetter
Internationally
recognised as the best golf instructor in the world, David Leadbetter
is the author of six books that have sold over one million copies world-wide.
Involvement with students such as Faldo, Price, Els and Norman, who have
all held 1st place in the world rankings, along with many more of the
world’s best golfers, Leadbetter is known as the “master of
the art of teaching the golf swing.”
If the tone sounds reverential, there’s a good reason. Leadbetter
has turned his career as a golf instructor into a mini-industry with golf
academies bearing the Leadbetter logo located around the world. World-wide,
he has been described and defined by the legendary names in golf in terms
of his “lucidity in communicating” all aspects of golf techniques
and for his “inquisitive mind”, focusing on all matters of
instruction and his “remarkable grasp of the elusive element we
call ‘feel’” -as he teaches students to analyse the
workings of their swing.
His list of students ranges from PGA legends to successful, established
pros and also includes the games brightest young professionals. Ernie
Els, Per-Ulrik Johansson, Aaron Baddeley and Mark McNulty, all Leadbetter
clients. The future is even more exciting, Charles Howell III, Justin
Rose and Ty Tryon, the youngest player ever to hold a full USPGA Tour
Card, ensure that David will be the games best instructor for years to
come. Through innovative drills and methods - ranging from high-tech computer
programmes to old fashion drills and practice, practice, practice - Leadbetter’s
techniques and influence are without peer in golf.
The titles of his best-selling books - ‘The Golf Swing’,
‘Faults and Fixes’ and ‘Lessons from the Golf Greats’
- tell a small part of the story. He is a fixture on television’s
Golf Channel, senior instructor editor for ‘Golf Digest’ and
‘Golf World’ Magazines, and his videos and dvds - including
‘The Full Swing’, ‘The Short Game’, ‘Taking
In To The Course’, ‘Faults and Fixes’ and ‘Simple
Secrets’ - expose him to millions of golf enthusiasts. David’s
video ‘From Beginner to Winner’ launched in 1997 and the books
‘Positive Practice’, ‘Fundamentals of Hogan’ and
most recently ‘100% Golf’, continued this trend.
Originally from Worthing in Sussex, England, Leadbetter began his career
in golf playing on the European and South African tours. He was more interested
in the techniques of golf than in playing the game itself, and started
spending more time instructing than competing. Now, 15 years into a legendary
career as the foremost golf teacher, he leads a world-wide team of certified
instructors at the DLGA sites, and is one of the most quoted experts in
the history of the game.
David and his wife, Kelly (an LPGA Tour Professional), their sons Andy
and James and their daughter Hally, live at Lake Nona, in Orlando, Florida.
Leadbetter himself makes about as many stops on the PGA Tour as any of
the golfers, and is on-call and consulted 24 hours-a-day by his students
about their games. He is also an endorser/spokesman for Callaway, Jos
A. Bank and Rolex.
David Leadbetter has worked hard to become the world’s number 1
golf coach, and thousands of professional and amateur golfers credit him
for improving their games. |
