TravelGolf.com: Mystery and Beauty in the Low Country
By Douglas Carey, Contributor
With many golfers hesitant to fly in the wake of this month's tragedy,
we sent contributing writer Shane Sharp in search of an ideal golf destination in the heart of
the Carolinas. He returned with a report from the
Seabrook Island Resort, located a half-hour south of downtown Charleston.
"(Seabrook’s 36 holes) offers thousands of golfers a first-rate Low Country resort
experience within driving distance of some of the southeast’s largest metropolitan areas," said Sharp,
who also included a sidebar on the
positive impact women are having at the resort.
TravelGolf.com: A Story of Survival from Alberta
Senior writer David R. Holland checks in this week with a
feel-good story from the world of golf that might make you feel better, and more
optimistic, even if only for a brief moment. You'll surely be inspired by his profile of
Stuart Hendley, a Texas-born resident of Canada. As Holland explains, Hendley is mighty
grateful he has found a level spot in his life, and the
outgoing, personable Canadian Tour player is now enjoying work, family and life.
OldDominionGolf.com: Environmental Exposure in Virginia
Once you’re out playing
Hunting Hawk Golf Club, you’ll certainly notice how
much of the environment is still out there - quite a bit. Environmentally
protected wetlands areas come into play on half the holes, and on the
others, there’re plenty of trees and water to gawk at.
Senior writer Jeffrey A. Rendall traveled to Glen Allen, Virginia
(northwest of Richmond in the central part of the state) to visit this environmentally
sound winner, a charming Bill Love design.
LasVegasGolf.com: A Hidden Gem in Utah
In search of a break from the lights and glitz of Las Vegas, staff writer
Michael Hegarty discovered a new golfing community rising from
the red clay dust and black rocks in the middle of the barren desert.
"
Coral Canyon Golf Club, just north of St. George in Washington, Utah, is a
beautifully challenging course with forced carries to pristine bluegrass
fairways and large bent greens," he writes. "The course features lots of vegetation
and panoramic views of the vibrant mountainous desert at an elevation of 2,800
in Southern Utah’s Color Country." Best of all, it's just two hours north of Glitter Gulch.
RockiesGolf.com: Be Enchanted by the Setting
Fall is always a special time for golf in Colorado, especially with the
seasonal changes beginning to take shape.
"The touch of cool in the air and the streaks of yellow in the aspen
groves combine to create the best golf atmosphere imaginable, says staff writer Doug Saunders. With that in
mind, Saunders set out to review the the
Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks in Silverthorne.
Featuring large fairways and incredible conditions, the stunning layout is
an inviting course for any player. Also this week at RockiesGolf.com, check out
Derek Duncan's review of
Green Valley Ranch in Denver International Airport territory, the newest
among Colorado’s premier prairie venues.

From the Rough: Spotlight on the Red Cross
On behalf of the entire staff at TravelGolf.com, we express our
deepest sympathy to the families and friends of those who have suffered
a loss of life or injury as a result of the horrendous tragedy on Sept. 11.
TravelGolf.com has launched a network-wide ad campaign called "Get
off the greens and give to the Red Cross," and we urge our readers
to call 1-800-HELP-NOW (1-800-435-7669) to make financial contributions
to the Red Cross. "We ask our readers to cut back a little on golf
and recognize what is important right now," said TravelGolf.com
general manager Robert Lewis.

you haven't checked it out already, be sure to visit the new TravelGolf.com
Pro Shop, a joint venture with The Golf Warehouse. With all
of this at TravelGolf.com, there's no need to go anywhere else on
the Web.
Until next week....God bless America.
