Pleasant Valley Golf Club
About
Pleasant Valley Golf Club sits just south of Dulles airport, but the expansive layout, which is absent of homes, feels much more secluded. The parkland layout tumbles across a diverse landscape of rolling hills and grassy meadows covered with hardwood forests. There is plenty of diversity throughout the golf course with some holes that are bunker-less contrasting with the links holes that have Scottish-style bunkers. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 fifth. After an uphill tee shot with a bunker on the right and a waste area on the left the second shot presents multiple choices. To the left you could take a risk with trees and a bunker but you could possibly be rewarded with a better angle for the third shot while the right side option will require a third shot over a large bunker to reach the green.

Nice layout, pace of play is often slow.
This course could be so good if they could keep a consistent pace of play. I have actually walked off the course due to a 9 taking 3 hours. It's generally well kept, the staff is nice and it's a better than average layout.
For $94 and a 90 degree day they should provide water on the course. No water coolers in that type of heat is ridiculous. All other courses seem to be blue to provide water. That’s just lazy
Course is degrading early this season
Every year this course starts off in decent shape but as soon as it starts heating up they let it go. No different this year. It was nice in April and about a month ago but after our round this past Monday I won't play it again this year. Tee boxes were shredded; greens were very pockmarked and the fairways unkept. And if it's like the past - it will just keep getting worse for the rest of the summer and year. It's getting handed over to Fairfax County one of these years (supposedly), so they just don't commit to taking care of it. Only play it on the cheap.
Pace of play left for a bad experience
They ran me out as a single on a crowded day amongst many other foursomes so I had nowhere to go. Ended up conducting a cardinal sin and joining foursome behind me in an attempt to at least make it less miserable. But 5.5 hour round of golf is not much fun. The course is in good condition however they left rough fairly long with a lot of blind shots which also slowed the pace of play because at times you had to step on ball just in the rough to find it.
Great place
This course has been improving condition wise for 2 seasons. New carts and for all the play this course gets its in good shape. The staff are great, everyone is helpful. I saw some players not check in with the starter then complain when they had to wait to tee off. The starter explained why checking in helps keep play moving on the tee box.
