Lake Lanier Islands Resort

Located 45 minutes from northeast Atlanta, Lake Lanier Island Resort was built on the shores of Lake Sidney Lanier and is George's most-visited lakeside resort destination. Accommodations include hotel rooms and suites at the 4,500 square-foot Legacy Lodge and Conference Center as well as luxury lakeside villas, private lakehouses and houseboats. Legacy Lodge and Conference Center is the centerpiece of the 1,100-acre property and houses 298 guestrooms, including 16 suites. Nature-lovers can sleep under the stars at the resort's spacious campgrounds or go for a horseback ride. For meetings and events, Lake Lanier has more than 23,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, including the 4,400-square-foot Grand and Plantation Ballrooms. There's 22 meeting and event rooms, which can hold from 15 to 500 people. Lake Lanier offers a wide variety of options ranging from a casual meal by the pool to more substantial offerings, including Windows Restaurant. Tranquility, which is the resort's spa, offers a couples massage, hot-stone therapy and Optimum Hydration facials. Legacy on Lanier Golf Club celebrated its first anniversary in 2010. Created by designer Billy Fuller, the golf course features a fully stocked golf shop, MiniVerde Bermuda Greens and "Billy" bunkers -- a bunker design developed by Fuller during his tenure at Augusta National Golf Club.
