Discern the Difference January 17, 2006, 6:39 pm

by traveler
Most people can't discern the difference between sports and entertainment. This writer can't.
The basic fact is it is sports when you are playing, it is entertainment when you are watching.
When you look at it this way how many people do you see playing golf and tennis each weekend VS those playing football and basketball?
When is the last time the TV dudes only showed a half a football game on purpose? When is the last time they showed an entire golf match from start to finish. Also don't forget that golf and tennis are often played as team sports. Could it have to do with MONEY?

Golf ala NFL January 17, 2006, 3:32 pm

Maybe golf would generate the excitement of the NFL games if the players threw their clubs at each other. Or if a golfer had to putt past opponents who would try to sack him before he could putt.
