| Hogan-Snead Shell Match |

Alan- Nice piece on the Hogan-Snead Match. Hogan took the Match quite seriously as he went to Houston to practice on the course before the actual competition. Also, one of the features of the show was a short lesson. Hogan's lesson, on how to initiate the downswing, as I recall, is like a piece of his book "5 Lessons" come to life. I believe it is the only time that Mr. Hogan is on film giving a lesson. Pretty cool! If you'd like to see a picture and a writeup on the Match, see pages 200-201 in my book, Ben Hogan: The Man Behind the Mystique". Also, we have a book coming out on the Shell Series and the Legends of Golf this Fall. Good job! Martin Davis

Mr. Katz, this was very enjoyable reading...well written and focused. A pleasant relief from usual "rag" stuff we are supplied.

Baldwin comes up with a good one here or there, but it looks like you've hired a good one with this guy Katz.
Not sure why he would want to write for an e-rag like this often seems to be, but you guys are heading in the right direction. A great, useful column.
