Atlantic City is not Las Vegas, and thats a good thing. This is not to say that Vegas is not an incredible place. I've been there and Atlantic City. But to relax at a beachfront casino, and play golf at one of the Atlantic City areas dozens of golf courses (many of which are nationally ranked, including the Atlantic City CC, birthplace of the "birdie") is second to none.
If you haven't been to AC recently, go...even if it's on a Tuesday afternoon.

I just don't get it. Once you understand what a "sucker bet" is, why would anyone go to a casino, knowing that the odds are stacked against you?
These are businesses designed to take your money, money which can be spent on green fees, and give nothing in return! Ultimately, you can't win. Skill has nothing to do with it. Courage has nothing to do with it. Gambling in a casino is a sucker play, do why be a sucker?

IMHO Paradise Island cannot be beat. Sure, there is only one casino on the island (a couple more over in Nassau), but it's the best in the Carribbean. And yes, there is only one golf course on the island but, with ocean views on virtually every hole, it's better than anything Las Vegas has to offer.

Chris Baldwin's copy reads like some guy on the news desk in Paducah, a 17-year old copy boy told to watch the wire while others take off early to drink rye. Bad writing, ill-conceived- and-executed attempts at humor and insightless observations.
Ever heard of spellcheck, Chris? "Atlantic City has gotten better with the Borgota casino bringing in a little hippness." That would be hipness with one "P."
How 'bout this tired trope? "Which is a lot like Lindsay Lohan arguing she's the next Katharine Hepburn." Chris: dropping Lohan into a story, especially after she's been tabloid-fodder for the last two years, doth not leave the impression you are tuned-in to the culture at large.
Instead, it reveals you for what you are: a hopeless square desperate to appear hip. You also appear to be a golf writer who knows nothing about the game or the culture. Go back to Paducah and write about what suits your mentality and style best: Dog bites man; cat up in tree; traffic lights out on Main St.
Shameful standards you guys have, for what's relevant and readable. You pay people to do this stuff?

Good article & I agree with it generally, although NM is also trying the same tactic & it's not bad. The problem with Vegas is getting to and from the golf courses cost-wise & the green fees are no bargains. But time out of the casino, no matter what the green fee, puts you dollars ahead!
