TravelGolf.com: Casting our Vote for Colorado's Best
By Douglas Carey, Contributor
Just when you thought we were done with our year-end top 10 lists, we've unleashed
a new one at RockiesGolf.com, where senior writer David R. Holland has compiled our list of the
Colorado's top 10 municipals, daily-fee and resort golf courses. The list features
courses from Colorado Springs to Grand Junction, home of
The Golf Club at Redlands Mesa, which Holland calls "the best new course to open
in Colorado this century." Other highlights include the Breckenridge Golf Course,
Riverdale Dunes, and The Valley Course at Cordillera, a challenging upscale
layout that blends perfectly with the surrounding area.
GolfCarolina.com: Something to Talk About
Our series on Charlotte's Top Ten Golfing Values continues with a review of our No. 7 pick,
Skybrook Golf Club,
which opened just north of Charlotte in July 2000. Contributing writer Shane Sharp
says the flavor of the course is established right from
the first hole with a 419-yard par 4 that comes complete with elevated tee box, spectacular view,
and behemoth green. Come prepared for plenty of variety: "Toss in a bevy of interesting
par-3's and 5's like you will find
in the 16th and 18th holes, respectively, and you have yourself a playable, yet
challenging golf course."
GolfTexas.com: Texas’ Top Two Golf Layouts
David R. Holland heads out to Austin and one of his favorite places this week for a review
of the new
Barton Creek Fazio Canyons Course, named No. 1 resort
course in Texas by TravelGolf.com. No. 2 on that list is Barton Creek’s
Fazio Foothills. "Ask any golfer who has played both layouts today and he will tell you
picking a favorite is like choosing between Pebble
Beach or Cypress Point," Holland writes. "You don’t want to miss either one."
What you really will like about Canyons, he adds, is the feeling of
playing a round all by your lonesome. There are no houses at this time and
no parallel fairways right there in your vision.
GolfArizona.com: As Good as it Gets in Scottsdale
Superbly groomed and challenging courses, top instruction, an ideal climate
and a standard of service second to none have sealed Scottsdale's reputation as one
of the world's best places to golf. In this week's seven-part look at the city,
we examine everything about
Scottsdale, from it's golf courses
to spas.
After reading more about the city, you'll agree there's never been a better time to
escape to Scottsdale for an American Southwest vacation.
MyrtleBeachGolf.com: Sunny Forecast for the Grand Strand
The Grand Strand's
golf course industry has been holding its collective breath since
Sept. 11, but based on advanced bookings at a number of local courses and golf
packaging companies, senior writer Shane Sharp reports that it's time for courses from
Brunswick County to Georgetown to let out a giant sigh of relief. In his spring
forecast, Sharp says many travel experts are shocked that the number
of golfers heading to the beach this spring could be significantly above last
season's totals.
