TravelGolf.com This Week's Buzz

Doug Carey This Week at TravelGolf.com: Nov. 02, 2004

At the new TravelGolf.com blog, the hot topics last week were baseball and politics. And that's part of the blog's appeal. When we were looking to give our staffers a forum to write about topics outside of golf, blogging immediately came to mind. It also offers readers a chance to respond to our bloggers on a daily basis.

With the election this week, we're getting plenty of feedback to Dave Berner's blog on presidential politics, as well as BadGolfer.com's endorsement of George W. Bush. Meanwhile, Chris Baldwin and Matt Paulson both checked in with notes on the Boston's World Series win, while Kiel Christianson managed to find the list of Tiger & Elin's favorite wedding presents.

In addition to our new blogs, we've also introduced WorldGolf Wire, a daily newsletter filled with insider notes from the golf industry. Each issue also includes our daily "raves of the day," plus new headlines from the TravelGolf.com network. After voting this week, be sure to check it out. As always, your comments are welcome on any topic, including presidential politics. Have a great week.

Round numbers that used to be thought of as a birth right on the Grand Strand are now pursued by prolific ad campaigns. Nothing's taken for granted anymore. "One week your course is a hot spot," writes Chris Baldwin, "the next it can be scrapping for business."

Tim MickelsonYounger Mickelson

Tim Mickelson was part of an NCAA National Championship squad at Arizona State and enjoyed a run through sports' most grueling selection process, the PGA Tour's Q-school. McCormick Ranch Golf ClubMcCormick Ranch is a cool
oasis in the Scottsdale desert

The McCormick Ranch Golf Club is a traditional layout in the midst of one of the most popular desert, target-style golf course strongholds in the world - Phoenix/Scottsdale. McCormick has two courses, the Palm and the Pine, both measuring out at more than 7,000 yards. The Palm has more water, whereas the Pine, though more open and dry, is still the more difficult.
