Geography May 8, 2008, 10:41 pm

Topher,
Canada is America you nit wit. America is the continental land mass that goes from Argentina up through Greenland. The "united states OF america is a country on that continent"
In fact Canada is one of the best parts of america. Of course if you have a very small mind and have been subjected to the extremely poor education provided in the us OF a then you'll never, ever get it.

Toronto, we're talking Toronto ... May 8, 2008, 6:15 pm

I don't really consider Toronto part of Canada, eh ... And neither do many Canadians I know.
That's like comparing apartment prices in New York City to anywhere else in the U.S. Why would you ever go to Toronto on a golf vacation? Especially when there are so many great spots in far, far superior British Columbia? Or even Montreal and Quebec City?
If I'd was forced to go to Ontario for golf, I'd try to keep it to Niagara Falls and its casino golf model. And even then I'd look into whether I could fly about five more hours West.

Americans are always welcome here in Canada.
And now I can almost afford Phoenix.
Chimo! (Cheers in the language of the really, really far north)

Canadian golf prices May 8, 2008, 12:33 pm

by Daryl-Lynn Carlson
You may have found one good value in the British Columbia golf package example you referenced but golf here in Canada is tremendously expensive relative to the United States. The courses have but four or five months to generate revenue to pay their high Canadian operating costs and taxes and us Canadian golfers pay dearly. A typical round at a well-maintained club in the Greater Toronto Region is at least $120 or more; often the golf cart is extra.

What "high operating costs"? land is dirt cheap and most courses probably don't even need sprinklers. IPods are expensive over there not golf.

You are partially right that Canada has some lower cost regions - Eastern Provinces and outside of Toronto you can play for under $100 at top notch courses. However, nothing beats the prices in Mid-South States where you get a nice course, cart and bucket of six Bud for less than $50! Plus you can join for around a G note, never get that in Canada.
