dangers of golf June 10, 2007, 2:38 pm

by stan
You forgot to mention deer ticks and mosquitos as additional dangers on the golf course.

For once I totally disagree with you.
Ok, you tried to be witty, but failed based on a lack of knowledge, so allow a professional to fill you in.
Golf injuries can be a lot more dire than you made out to be.
Too much torque can lead to spiral fractures in the legs. Torque is also responsible for slipped and / or herniated spinal disks. You can also shatter your triangle cartlidge in the wrist. You left out the possibility of heat stroke, cardiac arrest, allegic reactions to bee stings, snake bites and, of course, alligator attacks.
Now on the other hand, there are possible injuries from driving under the influence (a drunk hits his tee shot into a wrong fairway) driving a golf car under the influence and going over a cliff to smash onto the rocks 10,000 feet below, and, of course, choking on a peanut in the 19th hole.
Regarding Michelle Wie...it MUST be a coincidence that she withdrew after meeting her manager on the 7th hole who probably told her she was gonna lose her playing priviliges. It was ALSO a coincidence that she felt well enough to play a pro-am two days later at the course where the LPGA Championship would be held...
Of COURSE its COINCIDENCE.
In Michelle's world, NOTHING is EVER her fault.
Wanna bet her manager gets axed next?

As for Michelle Wie withdrawing due to a wrist "injury", it might have had something to do with the LPGA little- known 88-rule. I believe it suspends a player who shoots over 88 in a competitive round for a number of tournaments. Just a little conspiracy-theory to add to Michelle Wie's lore.

In order to write this story I ask, was this written on the course, after visiting with the cart girl one too many times. And has her consumable product selection changed to include some of the so-called recreational chemicals?

That was a witty story, one that way well written, funny and didn't attack any player. Have I logged onto the wrong website?

Has Daly finished a round this year?

Golf isn't the only savage sport June 6, 2007, 4:00 pm

You say, "Golf is an ancient, barbaric quest riddled with savagery and physical abuse." Yes, but so is bullfighting. Wouldn't it be worse to be a bullfighter? And have to wear cute candy-colored outfits and ridiculous hats? Uhhhhh, never mind.
